Parent Information and Education
PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT:
Soccer is an exciting, fast moving and fun game. Coaches, players and fans should remember that the objective is to have fun and learn the game of soccer. It is important to our soccer program that all participants conduct themselves in a positive and responsible manner.
American River Futbol Club (ARFC) will NOT tolerate behavior that brings the Club, team, players or game into disrepute.
The Club believes that the attitude shown by parents toward the coaches, the referees, and the opposing players and their families is of paramount importance. Inappropriate comments or actions undermines the essence of competition and introduces stresses which are inappropriate for children:
As a member of this club, I agree to set a good example to my child by behaving at all times in accordance with the following:
- I will not openly criticize the referees before, during or after games.
- I will not openly criticize our opponents or engage in arguments with their parents during or after games.
- I will only give positive feedback to players on both teams.
- I will cheer at all games within the spirit of fair play.
- I will do my best to teach my child to become a student of the game and do likewise.
- I will show the quality of our sportsmanship during and after each and every match and encourage my child to congratulate opponents and match officials after every game.
- I will do my very best to have my child on time and prepared for every practice and game.
- I understand that improper behavior at a match, practice or other club sponsored events may result in being asked to leave the field or the event by a referee, coach, team manager or club official.
- I understand that, upon review of improper behavior by members of the board, a parent can, and will if necessary, be suspended from watching their child play should such behavior be considered detrimental to the team and/or club.
- I will leave the coaching to the coach and refrain from giving my child or any of his/her teammates instructions during training or games.
- I will endeavor to give timely notice (more than 24h) to my coach should my player be unable to attend a team event.
- Should I have a soccer-related concern regarding my player, I agree to reflect for at least 24 hours before raising the issue with the coach.
ARFC has a standing committee to address violations of our Code of Conduct. The Committee is comprised of members of the Board, and decisions and actions by the Committee to address violations are final.
Failure to comply with the Parent Code of Conduct could result in removal from the field, sanctions, suspension and/or expulsion from the club.

PARENT VOLUNTEER HOURS
The club adopted parent volunteer hours for several reasons, one specific reason was to get more parent involvement. This is your club! Up to this point, only a few people have been running it. However, it’s a big club and more people are needed to run it. Furthermore, we want you to feel a part of the club and to have some ownership of it. There are a number of parent volunteer opportunities throughout the year. We need volunteers to help at the Independence Cup (tournament), to clean and maintain the futsal facility, to mow and line soccer fields, and to help at picture day. These are just some of the major areas of need. Announcements will be sent out when volunteers are needed, or contact the club at americanriverfutbolclub@gmail.com.
Volunteer hours are scheduled to be charged in October. Five hours of service per registered player are expected. If you completed your hours (or some of them) prior to October, you will not be charged. The fee will be waived. If you complete them after October, you will be reimbursed. This will happen quarterly, unless there is a large event with a number of volunteers.
If you have any questions, please contact the volunteer hour coordinator at americanriverfutbolclub@gmail.com, or if you’d like to volunteer, contact one of the following:
- If you’d like to volunteer at the Independence Cup, contact Richard Spenser.
- If you’d like to volunteer at the futsal facility, contact Rick Carrigan.
- If you’d like to volunteer at Orangevale Open, contact Jordan Beaudry.
- If you’d like to volunteer at Meraki, contact Carlos Perez.
- If you’d like to volunteer at Heron Landing, contact Troy Topping.
